Rent takes place in the 90's of NYC. It's about a group of friends who live in the East Village with AIDS in addition with having the inability to pay rent. With three very different couples and a the unseen camera man of their group found it's way to be one of the pest shows to be on Broadway. This show with little dialog was made to be an updated version of the opera La Boheme. Some awards being won by Rent were four Tony's, six Drama Desk awards, and a Drama League Award. This show will grab your attention in a heart beat.
9:hairspray
Hairspray is a upbeat comedy about a young girl named Tracy Turnblad, a high school wanna- be dancer. It is her dream to dance on the hottest show in Baltimore, "The Corny Collins Show" and be named the best dancer in Baltimore. Hairspray also has a plot where color kids were so rejected that they could only dance on the show once a month. Once Tracy and some of her friends find out that Nergro Day (the day color kids can dance) is cancled, the do everything in their power to try an save it this show with it's comical props teaches lessons that we should take with us throughout our lives.

The Producers is about a Broadway producer named Max Bialystock and his accountant Bloom try to write their own Broadway show. They soon seen that the show is a major flop (a fail in reviews and sales) and try to write a second one. With their comical songs and laugh- out- loud story line, they had a successful tour in London, U.S., and with their world tour in 2005. They won twelve Tony Awards in 2001., eleven Drama Desk Awards in 2001, and three Laurence Olivier Awards in 2005.
7:little shop of horrors
Little Shop of Horrors is a fun musical about a plant and it's scheme for world domination and a love story between Seymour and Audrey. The show is a cliche of it's self where people "mysteriously" disappear while fun singers harmonize in the background. Little Shop of Horrors won a Saturn Award for best music. With it's easy- to- follow plot line and great songs, this is a show that you won't be able to stop laughing and smiling at. You may never look a plant the same way again after this show.

A Chorus Line is a musical but really is a better show for those who like dancing. Many dancers are looking for a spot in a Broadway musical. By the time that there are seventeen contestants left, the rest of the show is getting to know them so the producer can pick four boys and four girls. This high- flying show will make you jump out of your chair and cheer. A Chorus Line have won awards like Tony's, Drama Desk's, and Obie's.

Wicked by far is one of the best show on Broadway from the moment it debuted to this day. The story of what happened before Dorothy dropped in. It's also know as the untold story of Oz about two friends who soon separate onto the own paths. It made it's debut in 2003. Since then, Wicked has broken the record for selling the most tickets from all around the world.. In 2012, they broke the record again by selling 2.9 million dollars worth of tickets.

Chicago is about two women named Velma (A famous performer) and Roxie (A hopeful actress) are thrown into jail for the murder of their husbands and Velma's sister. They soon become infamous and their fame for being evil is the only thing separating them from life and the gallows. Chicago has won six Oscars, three Golden Globe, and an award for best Hollywood hair and makeup. Chicago isn't a little kid show but it's a evil thriller that will have you practically falling out of your chair.
3:les miserables
Les Miserables simply translates to The Miserable. It tells the story of a man named Jean Valjean who was arrested for stealing bread and lived in jail for twenty years. Once he is released, he changes his name and protected the daughter of a poor dying woman. At the same they talk of a love triangle between a soldier who fights in the French Revelation, a poor girl with thieves for parents, and a motherless child. There is hardly any talking in the show yet it still captivates your heart. Also, Les Miserable is currently back on Broadway.
2:The lion king
There is only one word to describe The Lion King, that word is majestic. With the actors singing, dancing, and movement, you'll think that they're real animals. It truly tells the story of Simba, a young cub who wanted be be in control and dealing with the struggle of thinking himself responsible for his fathers death. His jealous uncle Scar is the one to blame for his own brothers death and tried to kill Simba as well to get to the thrown. While some characters like Simba jump around so much, there are other wonderful characters who have to control the movement of puppets while singing and dancing. This is truly one of the best shows on Broadway.
